Karen is amazing! I adopted a rottweiler from a local shelter and she is very sweet but turned out to be extremely high energy. She was obsessed with toys, overly excited when meeting new people, and difficult on the walk. All of this was a problem because I adopted her to eventually become an emotional support dog for visitors to a community center I work at in Los Angeles. But she was a challenge to get under control, and it didn’t seem that she would ever be ready to come to work with me and be reliable around other people.
I’m lucky that I found Dynamic Dog Training Az and that Karen was able to fit us in. I choose to go with Karen after researching other trainers because of her clear knowledge and success in training dogs of various breeds and issues, and most importantly the love she has for her work and dogs. Also, many board and trains have several staff and you don’t actually know who will be training your dog. With Dynamic Dog Training Az, I knew that my dog would be living with, and cared for, by Karen.
During the board and train, I received regular updates and pictures so I could follow the process. Karen put in extra time to find challenges for my dog and get her ready to be in the chaotic environment of the community center. There is no magic – it’s a lot of work. Being able to see the work that Karen was doing helped me learn a lot and be more prepared to continue working with my dog when I got her back.
Now, with Karen’s help, my dog is able to bring joy to folks who come into our community center. She regularly gets compliments on how well behaved she is and is even trustworthy around children and babies! Words could not express my gratitude for the impact Karen has had on my dog. Making the long drive from California to Karen’s place in Arizona was well worth it for the results. Whether you're looking to address a challenging behavior or want to build trust and communication early – Dynamic Dog Az is your answer. I would recommend Karen to anyone who needs a caring and effective dog trainer.

In March of 2016, we moved our family, and sweet, 3 year old, Labradoodle, Charlie, to Arizona. From the moment we started packing up our home in Colorado, Charlie began showing signs of anxiety. He became nervous about loud noises, doorbells, house guests, and power tools. You name it, he was scared of it. He had to go on an anti-anxiety medication just to make the road trip to AZ. Unfortunately, once we settled into our new environment, we didn't see much improvement. In March of this year, we adopted a Golden Doodle puppy. He was adorable, until he wasn't. He behaved like a puppy, and Charlie wasn't having it. Charlie became more anxious and less confident as Slider made his presence known in our home. Slider, on the other hand, bullied Charlie; body slams, hording toys, lack of impulse control, hyper activity, etc. Our dream was to have doodles that would be best friends, but it wasn't happening and we didn't see much hope. We hit our wall with this duo and needed help. Our minds were eased from the first conversation we had with Karen. We had no doubt she was the answer to our dog dilemma. Charlie and Slider went to the two week board and train program. Both dogs worked really hard, and the improvement we saw was remarkable. We poured over every text and video Karen sent of Charlie and Slider during their stay at her house. They were beginning to behave like the dogs we dreamed they could be, and we were learning the tools, and confidence, to continue the training at home.
We highly recommend Karen to any frustrated dog parents. Dogs are a wonderful addition to many households, why not make the best investment to enjoy them to the fullest for years to come?--Krista K., Gilbert, AZ (2 Week Board & Train)

When we adopted our sweet pittie Sven, we began looking into training methods that would be appropriate for him. He's very high energy and had puppy impulse control challenges on top of being nearly completely deaf (he cannot hear any frequency in the human vocal range). We have small kids and cats, so we absolutely needed him to be his best. Karen and the e-collar were recommended by a friend and we gave her a call. After our first session in her home, we walked out knowing that we were going to be able to do this. Sven learned prong collar, his name, sit, down, place, come, and good boy in the couple of hours we were there. We went home and trained hard on those commands for 5 weeks in prep for our board and train program. Karen gave us a ton of great advice and was available by phone/text whenever we had questions or concerns. We have a pretty busy household with demanding work and two small kids, but we made a commitment to 15 solid minutes of training plus 2 "working walks" per day. Sven made great day over day progress and we were pretty confident dropping him off that he'd do well with his board and train. We were in constant contact with Karen through the two weeks she had Sven in her home. We loved seeing the update videos and getting texts whenever he hit a new milestone. In that two week time period, Karen taught Sven to respond to three taps on the e-collar (his new name!), to play nicely with other dogs, to control the chase impulse, and started long line work with the long term goal of letting Sven off-leash. At pick up, Karen gave us the tools to lead Sven. We learned the right way to use the e-collar, prong collar, and our own bodies to provide the best guidance and leadership possible. She was super accommodating when our sitter cancelled on us and we had to bring our small kids at the last minute and she included our 4 year old in some of the training. Fast forward to now, about three months post training and Sven is just incredible! He looks to us for guidance in situations where he might have gotten excited or given chase in he past. He's not quite ready for true off-leash work yet, but he rocks a 50 foot line like a champ. He's completely under our control at all times. He walks on the leash led by our 4 year old and responds to her signals just as he does to ours. We were a little concerned in researching the methods for training that Sven would lose his sweet and happy nature, but the opposite seems to be true. The balance e-collar and Karen's guidance has given him and us has only made his sweet nature more noticeable. We remain in contact with Karen as we work through issues or questions via phone/text and the Facebook group she runs for DDTAZ families. We could not have asked for a better experience and highly recommend Karen and DDTAZ for any dog training needs!--Jessica T., Phoenix, AZ (2 Week Board & Train)
If you are reading this, chances are you've realized you need help. I needed help. Luckily , I found Karen. Night Fury was a typical puppy, & we thought we were set for success in the beginning. We've had experience with Great Danes as well as puppies. We brought him to all the typical pet store training classes & continued what we had learned from previous dogs. Around 13 mo of age his behavior began to change, it was little by little and we were not equipped, and did not take appropriate or quick enough action. He started dominating the couch, being in our faces, & poking everyone in the butt. He seemed overly skittish and was unpredictable. Then the unthinkable happened, my retired parents came for a visit and within 10 minutes, Fury bit my father in the arm causing puncture wounds. I felt guilty and helpless. I was up most of the night researching dog trainers & narrowed it down. After speaking with all three my answer was clear. Karen was the perfect fit not only because of her experience with big dogs but because she did not give me any promises or absolutes like the other trainers did. In fact, she gave me a reality check of what the future may look like with and without training. Even with training, she told me some of my goals may not be realistic. Lastly, she did not jump at the chance to accept Night Fury, and in fact said she wanted to think about it based on his increased aggression. Luckily, she said Yes. My husband & I immediately became unified & committed to her methods. Night Fury outgrew is 31" puppy crate, we purchased a 45" crate & built up his time for sleeping & preparing for the 2 week board & train. It has been 4 months since completion. Is he perfect? No, but neither are we. We continue to follow the rules and homework. Night Fury is still skittish, but now we anticipate possible stress points and act as his advocate. He is calmer, and more predictable. My one regret is not reaching out to Karen sooner. If you are reading this, you have questions, and likely need help. Karen IS the answer. Don't wait for issues to escalate. I have no regrets.
UPDATE FROM NIGHT FURY'S OWNER: -Dear Karen, I again can't thank you enough for how you have helped us! When I am doing research and reading testimonials, I always look for a follow up. Things are often the rosiest immediately after a service is completed. A true testament to the carryover and follow through is the overall picture many months later.
It has been 20 months since Night Fury attended a 2 week board & train with Karen at DDTAZ. Have you every been lucky enough to have the dream dog that was easy going, easy to train, confident and you didn't have to pay a significant amount of attention to? Night Fury is NOT that dog. Karen helped us to realize he may never be that dog; she was right. I'm pleased to say Night Fury is so much more in many ways. It is a different type of experience when your dog needs you and not the other way around. Night Fury needs us to be the strong and confident leader. He depends on us to anticipate his needs. Karen taught us how to provide an environment that is safe, enjoyable and routine. When life got busy and we were not consistent Fury let us know; a jump here, barging out the door there & dominating the couch or pacing. For a brief moment I thought he may need a tune-up session. Then I quickly realized it was us that needed the tune-up. In short, the place commands and routine are what keep everything in sync. It was a quick turnaround and we haven't looked back since.
The place command has been very useful to us as well as giving him a job that keeps him calm. We use place command when trimming his nails, when pulling burrs out after a hike or providing him other medical attention. Our other favorite command is "out". Great Danes can be a little intimidating and even when he is confident and wanting to sniff visitors - if we do not like the vibe of the human we say "out" & he makes a 180 and walks away. Brilliant. Watch Night Fury's story and read my testimonial. He has gained many inches and 30lbs since then, but we have had zero incidents. My parents came for a visit and were amazed at the difference in Night Fury, what they didn't "see" was the difference in our behavior or routines, and that is fine. The credit should go to Karen & Night Fury. --Elizabeth & Bao, Phoenix (2 Week Board & Train)

"My husband and I had lived with Ziggy’s terrible behavior for seven long years. He was so leash reactive that we rarely took him out of the house, he bullied our other dog, and he generally got his way through whining and growling. When he growled at my infant daughter, that was the final straw and I called Karen the next day. Three weeks with Karen have made an enormous difference. With the place command, Ziggy gets to spend time with the family, instead of staying locked behind gates or in the back yard. He is amazing on a leash, he is much calmer in the house, and he listens to me and my husband when we give commands. I think the most impressive change is Ziggy no longer feels entitled to every scrap of food that falls on the kitchen floor! He’s not perfect, but he has continued to improve since he came home and Karen has given my husband and I the skills to address mistakes. We are so grateful for Karen’s training!
UPDATE FROM ZIGGY'S OWNER: One year later, Karen also trained our second dog and Ziggy and Cosmo are doing great. The dogs have much more confidence and are very well behaved on their walks. Our veterinarian cannot believe the change she has seen in Ziggy. Ziggy is MUCH more relaxed around the kids and we no longer feel like we have to constantly watch him around them. He understands that baby toys and baby food do not belong to him and he listens to us and responds when we need him to go to Place. Our family is much happier with calm, confident dogs."--Emily S., Tempe, AZ (3 Week Board & Train)

"We are so thankful to have found Karen. My husband and I were at the end of our rope with our pit bull, Remington. Despite our best efforts, we ended up with a crazy dog who wouldn't listen to a word we said. He had attacked a couple of our other dogs (situations that "made sense" but obviously weren't ok) and we had lost all trust in him and our ability to manage him, in a multiple dog household, safely. A year of triple checking doors and gates was a year too long and I only wish we had found Karen sooner. Prior to finding Karen, we began exploring some less than ideal options for Remington, as we just couldn't deal with him any longer. The night I found Karen's website was the first night I felt there may be some hope. After speaking on the phone, we agreed to move forward and dropped Remy off for his two week board and train a few weeks later. We were SO thankful to have a bit of a break from him.
Karen went over our list of issues with him, let us know what we could expect while he was in her home and a little bit about what to expect when he came home with us. She sent updates just about every single day, and we were becoming more and more excited to have Remy HOME! We saw more progress than we ever dreamed of. When it came time to finally pick him up, Karen taught us what he'd learned and corrected our technique in working with him so we'd succeed without her. He came home in the midst of several unexpected and chaotic situations in our home. We didn't have near as much time or energy to work with him as we should have those first few weeks. Karen was great in answering questions and providing moral support. We would have been hard pressed to keep any sanity if we had The Old Remington at that time. As things have started to calm down, I've had more time to work with him and can still hardly believe the change. We've thrown some crazy stuff at him and he hasn't really missed a beat. He no longer jumps on people, stays in place when we have company and hasn't jumped or scratched a single person! We've begun very slow reintroductions with the other dogs and have hope that one day, we may be back to allowing him to be with the others more often than not.
We are learning to trust him again, and Karen has helped us learn to trust in ourselves again when it comes to our boy.
My only regret is not finding Karen sooner, if we had found her when things first started, it would have been much easier on all involved."--Melissa G., Surprise, AZ (2 Week Board & Train)

"Karen was introduced to my wife and I by a mutual friend. We reviewed her website and FaceBook page, which contained videos, information about her and her services, tons of other useful information, and her pricing. We decided on the two week board and train option.
We rescued Diesel, my first dog in 17 years and as an adult, on Veteran’s Day 2015 from the Humane Society. He is a loving high energy, always on the go, super excitable Shepard, Rottweiler, and Lab mix. Diesel... is our first child. We treated him like a human (Don’t do this). Diesel would jump on and mouth us and our guests; he rarely listened, did not respect us, counter surfed, broke out of most crates, destroyed household items, and he would resource guard our bed. We loved Diesel, and he is lover too, but we needed serious help.
We were nervous training would change Diesel’s loving personality and he would be a zombie when he came home. To our surprise Diesel came back a calmer, happier, respectful, and better version of himself, not a zombie. He listened! It was amazing! One of the most important parts of Diesel’s training was our training (and we need some). Karen kept us informed and was helpful and communicative while Diesel was in her care. Karen continues to check in on him and answers the many questions we still have, even after Diesel came home. You will be in great hands with Karen before, during, and after you and your dog’s training. I highly recommend Karen and her services."--Bradley S., Phoenix, AZ (2 Week Board & Train)

"We adopted Jack from the pound the day after Christmas and spent the next two months treating him for pneumonia. He was 10 months old and so sick, I thought he would die. When he finally recovered, we discovered his true personality. And it was way more than I could handle! Jack ate everything! He chewed up the door frames, ate a hole in the drywall, ate a significant chunk out of the wood pillars holding up our patio roof, took down the Christmas tree, ate glass ornaments, counter surfed, dragged the garbage all over the house and yard, AND started to pee on my bed. I have always believed that when you adopt, it's for life-no going back or passing your new family member on to someone else. I was devastated to realize I just couldn't take any more. I did some internet surfing and found Karen's website. I watched a video she had of a board and train dog and I was impressed. I gave Jack and I an ultimatum of sorts. If Karen could "fix" him, then I would consider keeping him. We went for an initial session to learn the prong collar, place, and the need for crate training. I knew during that session that I wanted the board and train too! I counted the days til I could drop him off to Karen! The initial training was very helpful, but I was struggling with consistency and still felt a bit desperate as a result. During his training, we got daily updates with pictures and videos. It was cool to see how quickly he progressed. I couldn't believe it. It became pretty clear that the problem was not really just Jack. When his two weeks were up, Karen spent a couple of hours teaching us how to be leaders. We probably needed more work than Jack did. She sent us home with a write up of recommendations and promised to be available to coach us. Oh, man, did I ever need coaching! Karen was so supportive afterwards. She took the time to teach and encourage us to be strong. It's been three months since Jack's training and she still checks in with us. Sometimes, I look at Jack now and I wonder how I ever could have been ready to give him up. He is such a sweet, wonderful, playful dog. I can't thank Karen enough for showing me who Jack truly is and for giving me the gift of experiencing a joyful and loving relationship with him. Karen has a real gift of teaching, not just dogs, but humans too! I can't recommend her highly enough!"--Annie C., Apache Junction, AZ (2 Week Board & Train)
"Karen worked with my dog, Goober, in March for the two week board and training option, and he is a changed dog because of her training. Before training he was jumpy, pacing all the time, could not walk on a leash, barely listened, and just seemed stressed out all the time. We now enjoy running together, hiking, and playing with other dogs. His off leash skills are stellar, and I never thought I would be able to have him out and about without a leash. Karen has been so helpful through text and phone calls since I have picked up Goober. She is a rock star, and has given me all the confidence I needed to be able to be the best leader and owner for Goobs. I would absolutely choose Karen again in a heart beat. Thank you for all you have done, and continue to do!--Sara, Phoenix, AZ (2 Week Board & Train)
"Karen exceeded our expectations with Riley! She is truly a changed dog. Her aggression towards other dogs is now minimal. This was our most hoped for outcome with the training. Riley is calm, doesn't bark when the doorbell rings, doesn't chew up items in the house and unbelievably, no wrestling matches needed when its time to get in her crate! Karen's training allows us to simply stand by the crate and say "Riley, crate" and she goes right in and lays down. Sometimes when I am describing Karen's skills to others, I think they must be thinking "too good to be true". Karen can get you in touch with me - its absolutely true, she turned Riley around. I am happy to talk to anyone considerring this training option for their pet. Karen does an outstanding job! She is professional, down to earth, candid, doesn't over promise and truly knows her stuff."--Carol M., Scottsdale, AZ (2 Week Board & Train)
"Karen has been a life saver for me and my 4 yr old dog Stella. Before going to Karen's 2 week board and train Stella would run around the house barking, she would jump on people as they came to the door, she would bark and lunge uncontrollably at other dogs - she was a whiner, she broke out of her kennel, leaving her at other peoples houses was out of the question because of her separation anxiety....
Two weeks with Karen and Stella is entirely different dog. She goes in the kennel willing and happily, we take nice walks where she ignores the barking of other dogs - no more running around the house like a mad puppy - and we left her at a friends for the weekend and she was an angel... even taught their dog a thing or two!
I would recommend Karen to ANYONE - whether you are having issues or adding a new dog to the family - our next dog that we adopt will be making a stop at her house first!" -- Alisha, Phoenix, AZ (2 Week Board & Train)

"Karen with Dynamic Dog Training is AMAZING! She recently E- Collar trained two of my dogs both a little over a year old bratty puppies but they're not anymore! She took my female Rottweiler Kona for a two week board and train first and then took our Kelpie mix Damon also for a two week board and train. They came home to us so different. They still had their great little personalities but we're ...more secure, confident, obedient, calm, and just happy. They listen to commands, walk excellent on leashes, walk great on the treadmill, and our home is so much more peaceful. The E-Collar has changed our lives! It's amazing to have a device to be able to communicate with my dogs. That is exactly what it does it communicates to my dogs what I want or need them to do. My dogs actually love having it on. It's part of their daily lives and their tails wag while I'm putting it on them. Karen was awesome she communicated with me through text almost daily and posted lots of cool stuff on Facebook so I could follow their journey but what makes Karen even more amazing is after my dogs were home and done with training any problem or question I had she would respond right back and gave me advice and encouragement and kept us going strong. I know I could pick up the phone anytime if I needed her. Karen is very companionate, professional, knowledgeable, devoted, firm but fair. I am so grateful and happy to have had her train my dogs and will definitely be sending future dogs her way. Thank you Dynamic Dog Training for giving me my house back!" --Christina, Mesa, AZ (2 Week Board & Trains)
"I am so blessed to have found Karen at Dynamic Dog Training AZ! My dogs are my world & I have a hard time trusting anyone with them. Karen not only did amazing work with my boy Hunter but she made me feel safe leaving him with her for 2 weeks. We checked in daily with each other helping me relax & feel involved in the process. Hunter went to Karen a rude, stubborn, thinking he owned me dog. I hated walking him; he walked me! He was super stressed & stuck in his own head unable to even hear me. My friends & family did not think Hunter could ever learn to be good. Well, Karen proved it could be done! I now have a calm dog that I can walk anywhere proudly & he hears me. I didn't think I could love him more than I did but thanks to Karen I really do! I have & will continue to recommend this awesome trainer! I'm already planning my other dog's board & train. Thank you Karen!!!" --Trina S., Mesa, AZ (2 Week Board & Train)
"If I could, I would give 100 stars to Dynamic Dog Training!!!!! My husband and I are a military family and move around a lot!! Back in February my husband and I had decided to move me back home to Tucson while he goes on his deployment. Meanwhile we have not one but TWO rotten rotties that I would have to deal with myself!! We tried training at Petsmart, vibrating collars, tried gentle leaders, easy walks, you name it we tried it!! We were out of options or so we thought we were.....we looked up Rottweiler rescues in Arizona to consider giving them up which just the thought was heart breaking! Until a huge beam of light surrounded Dynamic Dog Training on the Rotten Rottie Rescue page. We went on to her website and decided to contact Karen for our last hope to keep our rotties!! Especially since we are looking to add a baby to our family soon, this was it. My dogs Rocko and Roxie spent two weeks with Karen for a board and train and let me just say that Karen saved our family!!! They don't lunge at other dogs anymore!! Their confidence and my confidence is up! Their anxiety is low, and I love all the compliments I get when I take them out on how well behaved my dogs are!! I can't thank Dynamic Dog Training enough for my dynamic rotties!!!!" --Whitney, Tucson, AZ (2 Week Board & Trains)
"Karen and Dynamic Dog Training has helped us turn around our two year old puppy Sadie. Sadie had high seperation anxiety and has had destructive chewing episodes. Sadie had spent one week in a board and train to utilize prong and command training. After a few months we sent her back for E-Collar training. After her one week stay with Karen and the updated training we now have an awesome Sadie! We are able to walk her off leash, take her to the park and work her come / down commands and she is great with our other dogs at home! Her anxiety and chewing are very rare nowadays.
She has started the transformation into a great dog that everyone can be proud of. Sadie's training as well as ours will continue each day to make our relationship grow now that we have the tools given to us by Karen! We highly recommend Dynamic Dog Training to anyone seeking help with a troubled pet and helping set a dynamic needed for your pet! Thank you from, Ty, Teri and Sadie, Mesa, AZ" (1 Week Board & Train)

"Karen is awesome. I went to see her with Diego, my min pin/chihuahua dog. Diego was quite the brat...stole food from the table, chewed up paper and fabric, barked at anything that moved, and insisted on sitting on people. He had zero manners. Karen taught Diego basic commands, and taught me how to use them. We did three sessions over three weeks, with homework in between. The change in Diego is remarkable. He now obeys without hesitation, and walks well on leash despite numerous distractions (even with other dogs around!). He is happy and relaxed, and so am I! Karen was very firm and effective with Diego, patient and encouraging with me. I highly recommend Dynamic Dog Training! Thank you Karen! **Update...Since starting training Diego, he's been doing so well! We also adopted Mufasa from Rotten Rottie Rescue; Karen was fostering him, and ecollar trained him. After seeing how awesome this training method is, we decided to train Diego this way, too. Having both dogs trained the same way, with the same mindset, and same routine and boundaries is amazing. Our dogs are calm, happy, and obedient. The whole dynamic of our home is so different, and so great. Karen has not only effectively trained our dogs, but is patient with me as well. I highly recommend Karen at Dynamic Dog Training AZ. " --Amy G., Mesa, AZ (One on One Lessons and E Collar Lessons)
