Family Dog Trainer Prescott AZ
The most important relationship moving forward is between you and me and it will need to include trust.
1. Trust me.
You may not know me yet, but you can see on my website that I can prove my results, not just talk about them. You can see that the dogs in my care are happy, calm and that they trust me. You can see that my clients trust me. I hope you can see my love for dogs and the true joy that I get from watching them succeed. I am a straight shooter—very honest and to the point. Some of the things I may ask you to do may be out of your comfort zone. I may point out things to you and ask you to change your way of thinking or doing. You will not be able to change your dog without changing yourself. Trust that I will listen and have compassion to your concerns. I understand that it's hard to see your dog feeling insecure when starting a new training program. I understand it's hard to leave your dog for two weeks while it's away at training. I know, because I miss my dogs when I go on vacation! So let’s talk! I think my knowledge and passion will translate into that trust you’re looking for. Please fill out a contact form and let’s have some trust talk!

2. Trust my methods.
I have a calm, assertive energy that helps me be successful with the most troubled dogs. I don’t yell, hit or try to dominate your dog. Your dog’s state of mind is always the first priority. Your dog cannot reach its full potential in obedience, calmness or trust without addressing and correcting its state of mind. Many behavioral issues are resolved with this philosophy alone. My type of training is fair and balanced. I use praise and corrections. Praise can be verbal like “good boy” or physical like petting, depending on the needs of the dog. I don’t use treats or food for training. Treats generally excite an already excited dog. I want your dog to be focused on you rather than the treats in your hands. You will feel a better connection with your dog when it is working for you and your dog will be more reliable and predictable. Corrections are only given when the dog knows fully what it is I am asking of him. If I did it sooner, it would be unfair. I use a ‘pressure on/pressure off’ method to training. Meaning, the dog learns what pressure is and how to turn it off. Pressure on/pressure off is a language that dogs use to communicate with each other so it translates very easily into their training.

3. Trust my tools.
Tools are not just something you can hold in your hands. I use my body for spatial pressure, body language, leadership and energy. I will teach you how to be the first tool in your arsenal and the collars as the additional tools.
I use the leash and a Herm Sprenger prong collar for direction and communication. Most dogs are not getting clear communication from their owners and that is a major cause of stress for a dog. Without clear communication, it’s difficult to teach a dog anything! The prong collar is an amazing tool that when used correctly, gives that ‘pressure on/pressure off’ type of communication. It is safe and humane. When I pull my collars out to walk my dogs, they are excited, not running from me in fear! In some dogs, a horrible walk can be fixed in as little as 15 minutes with a properly fitted and properly used prong collar.
I use E Collar Technologies Mini Educator electronic collars. This e collar is essentially a tens machine. Chiropractors and TMJ dentists both use tens units in practice! The range of stimulation on a Mini Educator is 1-100. As you can see by my videos, I am working hard to change the way e collars are perceived. Unfortunately, there are still trainers that have not graduated to a more modern mindset in regards to e collar training. The more archaic way of e collar training is to use it at high levels for corrections only. My style of e-collar training is nothing like that. I work at very low levels. Most dogs that have completed my program work at a 5. My dog, Dexter works at 5 inside, 7 outside and if we are in an area of heavy distractions, I use 10. I can just start to feel the collar on myself at 7! When used correctly, the e collar will work miracles on your dog! Modern e-collar training is the most effective, reliable, humane, and transformational training tool available today. And yes, contrary to popular beliefs, it can and should be used on dogs with fear, anxiety and lack of confidence. Why? Because when a dog starts equating a stim to a command that he can successfully complete without a leash, his confidence increases. My training system is designed to create a more relaxed, confident and obedient dog.

4. Trust in your future!
Yes, you and your dog will go through training, but your work with your dog will need to go beyond that training period. You should view your future with your dog as a new lifestyle. At the end of training, I will ask you to follow a written plan that is customized to your dog. It will be up to you to take the leader role and take your dog to the next level. There are many variables involved in creating a well-behaved, balanced dog after its training such as owner commitment, consistency, and follow-through. With those many variables, it would be unethical for me to offer a 100% guarantee. However, I only choose the most dedicated owners and I will be there to support you and your dog after training. You will not need to go down your new path alone! Again, the success of the dog depends on both of us and I will give you 100% of me--that I guarantee!
